Abstract

This study aims to analyze patterns of handling internal conflicts at Al-Hidayah High School in Medan. Internal conflicts within the school environment are a natural phenomenon resulting from differences in opinion, communication, interests, and individual backgrounds within an educational organization. If not handled appropriately, conflicts can disrupt the learning environment, working relationships, and the effectiveness of the educational process. This study employs a qualitative approach using descriptive methods. The research subjects consist of the principal, vice principal, teachers, and students. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, while data validity was tested through credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The results of the study indicate that the pattern of handling internal conflicts in schools is carried out through an approach of open communication, deliberation, mediation, compromise, and cooperation among school members. The principal acts as both a mediator and a decision-maker in resolving conflicts that arise. In addition, the school has implemented preventive measures by strengthening communication, fostering interpersonal relationships, and promoting a culture of collaboration to prevent larger conflicts from arising. A communicative and solution-oriented approach to conflict resolution helps create a harmonious and conducive school environment that supports improvements in the quality of education.
