IMPLEMENTASI KEGIATAN EKSTRAKURIKULER TAHFIDZ DALAM MEMBENTUK KARAKTER RELIGIUS SISWA DI SMP A. WAHID HASYIM TEBUIRENG JOMBANG

This study aims to explain the implementation of extracurricular tahfidz activities that function to shape the religious character of students at SMP A. Wahid Hasyim Tebuireng Jombang. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The research subjects consisted of the principal, tahfidz teachers, and students involved in the activities. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, and the data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model. The research findings indicate that extracurricular tahfidz activities have a significant role in building students' religious character through consistently applied habits. Students are trained to be disciplined, responsible, patient, consistent, and respectful of teachers in the learning process. Tahfidz activities also increase students' awareness in worship, such as performing congregational prayers, reading the Qur'an, and maintaining good daily behavior. In addition, the muraja'ah process hones students' concentration, perseverance, and mentality so that they do not give up easily while learning. The success of this program is supported by a religious school atmosphere, role models from teachers, and support from parents who encourage student motivation. Thus, extracurricular tahfidz activities serve as an effective implementation of Islamic character education in sustainably shaping positive student behavior.
