IMPLEMENTASI PENDEKATAN LANGUAGE EXPERIENCE APPROACH (LEA) UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS BERITA SISWA KELAS IV MIN 3 KOTA MATARAM TAHUN PELAJARAN 2025/2026

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low ability of students in writing news texts. the purpose of this study was to improve students’ ability in writing news texts through the implementation of the Language Experience Approach (LEA) in the fourth grade of MIN 3 Mataram in the 2-25/2026 academic year. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles. Each cycle included four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data were collected through interviews, observations, and evaluation tests. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive quantitative, and qualitative analyses. The indicators of success in this study included the improvement of students’ learning activities reaching at least the high category and the achievement of classical learning mastery, in which at least 85% of students obtained a score of ≥ 70 based on the predetermined Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM). The results of the study showed that the implementation of the Language Experience Approach (LEA) was able to improve students’ ability in writing news texts in the fourth grade of MIN 3 Mataram in the 2025/2026 academic year. This was evidenced by the students’ average score in cycle I, which reached 72.29 with a classical mastery percentage of 68.57%. furthermore, in cycle II, the students’ average score increased to 81.71 with a classical mastery percentage of 88.57%. In addition, both teacher and students’ activities improved and reached the very high category.
