Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of e-wallets by Generation Z entrepreneurs in Jambi City and to understand their experiences and challenges in using them. The development of digital technology has encouraged changes in the payment system from cash-based transactions to non-cash transactions through e-wallets such as DANA, OVO, GoPay, and ShopeePay. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving Generation Z culinary business owners who actively use e-wallets in their business activities. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that e-wallets have become an important part of daily business activities, particularly as digital payment tools and through the use of QRIS. The use of e-wallets as payment instruments, QRIS utilization, and daily business transaction activities each accounted for 27%, while the combination of e-wallet and cash payments accounted for 19%. E-wallets were considered practical, easy to use, and capable of improving service efficiency and accelerating transaction processes. In addition, there has been a shift in consumer behavior toward digital payments. However, the use of e-wallets still faces several obstacles, including signal disruptions, slow transaction processes, system errors, and limited use of advanced features beyond payment functions. This study concludes that e-wallets contribute to supporting digital economic transformation among young entrepreneurs, although the optimization of digital financial management features still needs improvement.
