HUBUNGAN KEMAMPUAN NUMERASI DENGAN HASIL BELAJAR MATEMATIKA SISWA KELAS V SEKOLAH DASAR

The low mathematics achievement of elementary school students in solving problems presented in the form of contextual stories remains a real challenge, particularly in the context of mastering numeracy skills, a requirement for 21st-century competencies. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between numeracy skills and the mathematics achievement of fifth-grade elementary school students. This study employs a quantitative, correlational approach with a sample drawn from SDN Semper Barat 09 Pagi and SDN Semper Barat 05, selected using Cluster Random Sampling. The study includes 31 fifth-grade students from Class V-D at SDN Semper Barat 09 Pagi and 31 fifth-grade students from Class V-A at SDN Semper Barat 05 as research subjects. Numeracy skills were measured using a test instrument consisting of 10 items that had been validated for validity and reliability, while mathematics learning outcomes were obtained from report card grades for the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data analysis techniques included descriptive and inferential analysis using the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test. The results of the study indicate a positive and significant relationship between numeracy skills and the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students, with a correlation coefficient of 0,420, which falls into the moderate criteria. This finding suggests that numeracy skills contribute 17,64% to the mathematics learning outcomes of fifth-grade students. Based on this, students’ numeracy skills need to be developed within the learning process.
