PENERAPAN MODEL PROBLEM BASED LEARNING (PBL) UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PARTISIPASI AKTIF MURID KELAS V MELALUI MATERI PELAJARAN MATEMATIKA

Abstract

This study aims to improve the active participation of fifth-grade students at SDN Pisangcandi 1, Malang City, through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in Mathematics learning. This research uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings. Cycle I used material on pictograms and bar charts, while Cycle II used the material of whole numbers (bilangan cacah). Observation instruments were used to measure students' active participation in each meeting. The results showed that the PBL model was effective in improving student activeness. In Cycle I Meeting 1, the average percentage of student active participation was 58.3%. In Cycle I Meeting 2, it increased to 66.7%. In Cycle II Meeting 1, the percentage rose to 75.0%, and in Cycle II Meeting 2, it reached 87.5%. These results indicate that the application of PBL in Mathematics learning can consistently and significantly improve the active participation of fifth-grade students at SDN Pisangcandi 1 Malang. It is recommended that teachers apply the PBL model as one of the main learning strategies in Mathematics subjects.
