Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of implementing ethnoscience-based STEM learning on elementary school students' decision-making skills. The study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 23 students from SDN 190 Pekanbaru as research subjects. Data collection was conducted through pre- and post-tests to assess changes in students' abilities after participating in the learning. The ethnoscience-based STEM approach was implemented by linking scientific concepts to the students' culture and environment, making the learning process more contextual and meaningful. The results showed an improvement in students' decision-making skills after implementing ethnoscience-based STEM learning. The average post-test score was higher than the pre-test, accompanied by an increase in N-Gain scores for most students. The majority of students fell into the low to moderate category, with some students achieving significant improvement. Ethnoscience-based STEM learning also helped students with low initial abilities become more active and understand the material more closely related to everyday life. Overall, this approach had a positive impact on the development of elementary school students' critical thinking and decision-making skills.
