IMPLEMENTASI PROJECT BASED LEARNING BERBASIS KEARIFAN LOKAL KEMARITIMAN DALAM MENINGKATKAN KOMPETENSI SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR DI KEPULAUAN RIAU

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) based on maritime local wisdom in improving the competencies of elementary school students in the Riau Islands. The study employed a mixed methods approach with a convergent parallel design by integrating quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative method used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest posttest model involving elementary school students in coastal areas, while the qualitative approach used a case study through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings revealed that the implementation of PjBL based on maritime local wisdom significantly improved students’ competencies in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Quantitative results showed an increase in the average pretest score from 64.2 to 84.5 in the posttest, with an N-Gain score of 0.71 categorized as high. The paired sample t-test also indicated a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, confirming a significant improvement in students’ competencies after the implementation of PjBL. Qualitative findings demonstrated that students became more active, collaborative, creative, and critical during project based learning activities integrated with coastal environmental exploration and maritime culture. In addition, students showed increased environmental awareness and appreciation for local culture. The study concludes that PjBL based on maritime local wisdom is effective in creating contextual, meaningful, and student-centered learning while supporting the development of 21st-century skills and strengthening students’ cultural identity in coastal and archipelagic regions
