IMPLEMENTASI PROGRAM ONE DAY FOUR AYAT DALAM MEMBENTUK KARAKTER RELIGIUS SISWA DI MADRASAH ALIYAH SALAFIYAH SYAFI’IYAH PROTO KEDUNGWUNI PEKALONGAN

Abstract

Amid accelerating modernization, concerns over the erosion of religious character among younger generations have become an urgent issue in Islamic education. This study examines the implementation of the One Day Four Verses Program, a habitual activity of reading and memorizing four Qur'anic verses daily as a systematic strategy to cultivate students' religious character at Madrasah Aliyah Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Proto, Kedungwuni, Pekalongan. Three core questions guide the inquiry: how the program is technically implemented, to what extent it contributes to shaping religious character, and what factors support or inhibit its execution. The study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving the school principal, supervising teachers, and students. Analysis followed the Miles and Huberman interactive model data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing validated through source and technique triangulation. Findings reveal that the program operates through a structured sequence: reading, independent memorization, and daily recitation to a supervising teacher with tajwid and makhraj correction. Its impact on religious character manifests across five dimensions: fostering love for the Qur'an, strengthening memorization through muroja'ah, building worship discipline, developing faith values, and enhancing individual responsibility. Program success is sustained by institutional commitment, teacher exemplary conduct, and a religiously conducive madrasah environment, while primary obstacles include disparities in students' memorization ability and the density of academic schedules.
