PENGARUH BUKU PETE THE CAT TERHADAP PENGUASAAN KOSAKATA BAHASA INGGRIS PADA SISWA KELAS II DI SD NEGERI 36 KOTA SORONG

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using the Pete the Cat book on English vocabulary mastery of second grade students at SD Negeri 36 Kota Sorong. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The subjects consisted of 24 students in the experimental class and 21 students in the control class. Data were collected through vocabulary tests, observation, and documentation. The data analysis used the Independent Sample t-test. The results showed that the average score of the experimental class increased from 61.63 in the pre-test to 88.29 in the post-test, while the control class increased from 57.48 to 78.86. The hypothesis test showed that the significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) was less than 0.05, indicating that the use of the Pete the Cat book had a significant effect on students’ English vocabulary mastery. Therefore, the Pete the Cat book can be used as an effective and enjoyable learning medium for elementary school students.
