Abstract

This study aims to improve the speaking skills of fourth-grade students using blank comic strips as a teaching medium. This study employed a qualitative approach, collecting data through oral tests, written tests, observations, and questionnaires. The study sample consisted of 29 students. The results showed an improvement in the students’ speaking skills after using blank comic strips. In terms of story structure, all students (100%) were in the “very good” category. In terms of articulation, 72% of students were in the “very good” category and 28% in the “good” category. The questionnaire results showed that 86% of students found it easier to pronounce words, 90% understood the story structure, and 90% gave positive responses regarding the use of the medium. Additionally, 55% of students stated they were ready to speak in front of the class, while 45% still felt less confident. Based on these results, the use of blank comic strips has proven to improve students’ speaking skills and provide a positive learning experience.
