Abstract

This study aims to analyze student’s errors in solving High Order Thingking Skills (HOTS) mathematical problems based on Watson’s criteria in terms of thinking styles. This research used a qualitative approach with the General Inductive Analysis (GIA) method. The subjects were students of class VIII A and VIII B at SMP Negeri 1 Seputih Banyak , selected based on thinking style questationnaires, namely sequential concrete, sequential abstract, random concrete, and random abstract. Data were collected through tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The dominant errors were omitted conclusions, response level conflict, and skills hierarchy problems. Students with random concrete thinking styles tended to make more errors. The causes of errors include lack of conceptual understanding, low accurary, and limited practice in HOTS problems.
