Abstract

This study examines the role of Civic Education in fostering ethnocitizenship among the younger generation through an understanding of the Nyangku Traditional Ceremony in Panjalu, Ciamis Regency. The background of this study is based on the gap between the ideal of preserving cultural values and the reality of the younger generation's understanding amidst globalization. The purpose of this study is to analyze the contribution of Pancasila Civic Education in strengthening cultural awareness and civic values among the younger generation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, documentation, and field notes involving traditional leaders, the younger generation, and Pancasila Civic Education teachers. The results show that the younger generation generally has basic knowledge of the Nyangku tradition, but their understanding of its philosophical values still varies. Pancasila and Civic Education plays a strategic role through the integration of local cultural values in contextual learning, such as observation, assignments, and cultural documentation. This process not only improves cognitive understanding but also shapes attitudes and civic participation. This study concludes that strengthening ethnocitizenship requires synergy between education, society, and cultural institutions so that local traditions are not only symbolically preserved but also internalized as civic identity.
