PENERAPAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF TIPE SNOWBALL THROWING DALAM MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA SISWA KELAS IV DI UPT SPF SD NEGERI BAWAKARAENG 1 KOTA MAKASSAR

Abstract

The problem in this study is the low speaking skills of fourth grade students in the Indonesian Language subject. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of the Snowball Throwing type cooperative learning model in improving the speaking skills of fourth-grade students. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research, which includes the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This research was conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this study were the teacher and 22 fourth-grade students at UPT SPF SD Negeri Bawakaraeng 1, Makassar City, for the 2025/2026 academic year. The data collection techniques used were qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Based on the teacher's observation results, cycle I was in the sufficient (C) category, while cycle II showed an improvement to the good (B) category. The observation results of student learning activities in cycle I were categorized as less category (K), while in cycle II, they improved to the good (B) category. The results of this study indicate that the Snowball Throwing type cooperative learning model can improve students' speaking skills. This is demonstrated by the results of the students' speaking skill tests; in cycle I, they had not yet reached the Learning Objectives Achievement Criteria (KKTP), then increased in cycle II by successfully achieving the KKTP. Based on the research results and discussion, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Snowball Throwing type cooperative learning model can improve the speaking skills of fourth-grade students at UPT SPF SD Negeri Bawakaraeng 1, Makassar City.
