This research is motivated by the low reading ability of students in literature lessons, particularly short stories, in fifth-grade students at SD Inpres Katangka. This is due to a lack of student interest in reading and the use of conventional learning media, which makes learning less engaging. This study aims to improve students' reading ability in short story literature lessons through the use of flipbooks. The research used Classroom Action Research (CAR) in two cycles, with planning, implementation, observation, and reflection as the stages. The subjects were fifth-grade students at SD Inpres Katangka. Data collection techniques were observation, tests, and documentation. The results showed that the use of flipbooks can improve students' reading ability. This is evident in the improvement in students' reading test scores in each cycle until they reached the established completion criteria. Thus, the use of flipbooks is effective in improving students' reading ability in short story literature lessons in fifth-grade students at SD Inpres Katangka.
