This study aims to analyze the process of instilling national defense values among
fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Lembang through Civics Education learning, while
also exploring the impact of digital technology on their sense of national awareness.
In the era of globalization and rapid technological advancement, Generation Alpha
faces significant challenges, such as dependence on digital devices, exposure to
negative content, and a declining interest in national identity and civic engagement.
This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were
collected through observations, in-depth interviews with teachers, parents, and
students, as well as documentation of learning activities. The findings indicate that
students’ awareness of national defense is uneven and influenced by various
factors, including the lack of active parental involvement, unengaging teaching
methods, and the uncontrolled use of technology. Teachers play a crucial role as
facilitators of civic values in schools, while parents are expected to serve as role
models at home. The study concludes that the cultivation of national defense values
must be carried out collaboratively between schools and families, using adaptive
approaches in response to the dynamics of the digital era.
