STRATEGI KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN MUTU GURU AL-QU’AN METODE TILAWATI

The low quality of Qur’anic instruction in Indonesia attributed to monotonous teaching methods and the limited competence of teachers demands effective leadership strategies from school principals. This study aims to examine the approaches adopted by the leadership of madrasahs to optimize the quality of Qur’an educators through the Tilawati method at MI Perguruan Mu’allimat Cukir Jombang. The research design follows a descriptive qualitative paradigm in the form of a case study, involving informants including the school principal, Tilawati coordinator, teachers, homeroom teachers, and students. Data collection was conducted through participatory observation, in-depth structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive analysis model. The findings reveal that the principal implements: (1) strategic management through the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of strategies; (2) the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM) to enhance teacher quality; (3) continuous professional development and mentoring; and (4) performance measurement through regular supervision and evaluation. These strategies have proven effective in improving teacher competence, as evidenced by the achievement of learning targets and high levels of stakeholder satisfaction. The study implies the significance of strategic management and TQM in teacher development, and recommends further research in different school settings, with particular attention to infrastructure as a strategic challenge.Downloads
