INTERAKSI SOSIAL ANAK DENGAN AUTISME: STUDI KASUS DI YAYASAN AL-AZHAR SLB B/C WARU SIDOARJO

Abstract

This qualitative study present the social interactions of child with autism at Al-Azhar Special Needs School (SLB) in Sidoarjo. The research aims to analyze the barriers to social interaction faced by children with autism. This qualitative study use observation, interviews, document analysis as data collection methods. The research focus on a fifth-grade autism student referred to as B who was chosen through purposive sampling based on the following criteria: (1) B's challenges in social interaction, (2) their capacity for parallel play, and (3) B's specific developmental phase. Data analysis was systematically performed using the Miles and Huberman (1994) model, which involved data reduction, data display, and the drawing of conclusions. The results demonstrate that while B exhibits a tendency to mimic the behavior of peers, they lack the ability to independently initiate social interactions.
