Abstract

Civics not only functions as a means to convey knowledge about the rights and obligations of citizens, but also as a tool to instill strong moral values based on Pancasila. This research aims to examine the challenges and solutions in efforts to build national character through a values approach in Citizenship Education (PKn). Using qualitative methods and a descriptive approach, this research explores the role of Civics in forming individuals who are moral and have a spirit of nationalism. The research results reveal that the values-based approach in Civics is effective in instilling values such as honesty, responsibility and love of the country. However, the main challenge faced is a lack of understanding of the importance of national values and the influence of globalization which is shifting local values. Some of the proposed solutions include implementing active learning, increasing teacher competency, and collaboration between schools, families and communities. In conclusion, Civics plays an important role in forming national character, but requires a holistic strategy to overcome the challenges of globalization.
