Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in science learning, the lack of learning activities that involve students because the learning process is still teacher-centered, so that students are still less active in the learning process. The aim of this research is to describe how to improve student learning outcomes using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in science and technology learning in class V at SDN 01 Ladang Cakiah, Bukitinggi City. This type of research is classroom action research (PTK) with a qualitative approach and a quantitative approach. This research was carried out in 2 cycles, with procedures namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The subjects of this research were teachers and students of class V SDN 01 Ladang Cakiah with a total of 29 students. The data in this research was obtained from the science and science learning process using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. Data collection techniques in this research are observation, test and non-test. The instruments used are observation sheets, test sheets and non-tests. The results of this research show an increase in: a) Teaching modules in cycle I with an average of 87.5% (B) and an increase in cycle II to 95.83% (A), b) Implementation in the teacher aspect of cycle I with an average of average 83.92% (B) and increased in cycle II to 96.42% (A), in the student aspect of cycle I with an average of 85.71% (B), and increased in cycle II to 96.42% (A), c) Learning outcomes of students in cycle I with an average of 81.09% (B) and increased in cycle II to 91.01% (A). Based on these results, it can be concluded that using the Problem Based Learning model can improve students' science learning outcomes.
