Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of lack of motivation and low mathematics learning outcomes for class VIII MTsN 2 Lima Puluh Kota based on observations that have been made. To overcome this problem, researchers tried to apply a cooperative learning model of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) type in learning mathematics. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a significant effect of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model on the motivation and learning outcomes of students in class VIII MTsN 2 Lima Puluh Kota. This type of research is a pre-experimental study with the research design The Static Group Comparison Design. The samples in this study were students of class VIII.3 as the experimental class and VIII.5 as the control class. The instruments in this study were motivational questionnaires and mathematics learning outcomes tests. In this study, data were analyzed using the t-test. Based on the results of the analysis of motivational data and student mathematics learning outcomes at level  using the t-test, for learning motivation obtained  which is 7,251 > 1,67. Whereas for the learning outcomes obtained , namely 2,031 > 1,67, so  was rejected and  was accepted. So, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model on the motivation and learning outcomes of students in class VIII MTsN 2 Lima Puluh Kota in the 2022/2023 academic year.
