Abstract

The low ability of students to answer mathematics story questions is the root cause of this research topic. Pre-research findings from interviews with fifth grade teachers at SD 1 Jepang revealed that children still needed help in understanding each sentence in the story problems. This can also be seen in the results of the daily mathematics test, only 50% of students got a score reaching the KKTP, this is considered not good. The aim of this research is to find out how the mathematical problem solving abilities of class V students at SD 1 Jepang are influenced by the Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach assisted by RAMBAT media. This research was carried out in class V of SD 1 Japan, using a quantitative Pre-Experiment approach: The One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. 18 students from class V of SD 1 Jepang were sampled in this research, so the sampling strategy used was saturated sampling. Essay tests (pretest and posttest), observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation are some of the methods used to collect data. Validity test, reliability test, normality test, regression linearity test, and simple regression analysis (partial t test and coefficient of determination) are used in the data analysis process. The findings in the partial t test obtained a sig value.  0.032 < 0.05, indicating that there is an influence of the Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach assisted by RAMBAT media on the ability to solve mathematical problems of students in class V of SD 1 Jepang. Then, the coefficient of determination (R Square) obtained a value of 0.257, this shows that the influence is 25.7%.
