Abstract

This research is classroom action research which aims to improve students' mathematical communication skills using the discovery learning model. This research was carried out in two cycles with four stages, namely: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The subjects of this research were 31 students in class IX F at SMP Negeri 1 Diwek. Based on the results of research that has been carried out, there is an increase in students' mathematical communication skills. This is proven by the increase in students' mathematical communication skills and student learning outcomes from pre-cycle to cycle II. The increase in students' mathematical communication skills can be seen through the percentage of students' mathematical communication abilities for each indicator in each cycle. In the pre-cycle stage 26.67%; 40%; and 26.67%. In cycle I, the percentage was 40%; 66.67%, and 53.33%. And in the second cycle stage, it was 73.33%; 80%; and 73.33%. It can be concluded that the application of the discovery learning model to improve mathematical communication skills and student learning outcomes.
