Students' critical thinking abilities are still in the low category. Students are familiar with questions at the LOTS level (Low order thinking skills) who rely on memory and memorization so that when faced with problems that require critical thinking skills to analyze and solve problems they tend to have difficulty. This research aims to improve students' critical thinking skills through a pedagogical expedition approach. This research uses the classroom action research (PTK) method which is carried out in three cycles. The research subjects were 35 students of class VII F SMPN 1 Krian. The instrument used in this research is test questions according to critical thinking indicators. The data analysis technique used in this research is quantitative descriptive techniques. The results of classroom action research show that the average critical thinking ability of students has increased from the pre-cycle to the last cycle. During the pre-cycle, the average critical thinking ability of students was 25% in the low category, in cycle 1 it was 56% in the medium category, in cycle 2 it was 60% in the high category. So it can be concluded that the pedagogical expedition approach can improve students' critical thinking skills in Civics learning.Downloads
