Abstract

The importance of mastering English in this information era has given rise to efforts to learn and master this language as early as possible. This research aims to determine the English language learning model at SD Muhammadiyah Sapen. This research uses a qualitative approach including observation and interviews in data collection. The English language subject at SD Muhammadiyah Sapen applies the curriculum created by the KKG (Teacher Working Group) around 2005-2007. However, in 2018 the curriculum was updated because there were no books that could cover all the expected material. In the teaching and learning process, teachers use methods according to the class level and the character of each class. The methods used are lecture, discussion, assignment and game methods. The media used in learning English are LKS books, modules, internet media. Apart from that, SD Muhammadiyah Sapen also has its own learning media such as Sapen TV, Sapen Radio and Podcast. In classroom learning activities, the teacher found several obstacles, including student discipline, student abilities, and the diversity of student motivation and enthusiasm. So it can be concluded that learning English at SD Muhammadiyah Sapen uses several methods that adapt to each student's character. Apart from that, there are many factors that support English language learning, such as the school facilities provided are quite adequate
