Abstract

Literacy is very important for the younger generation in knowing the development or progress of information. This research aims to determine the effect of the campus program teaching Silent Reading in increasing the literacy of students at SD Negeri 2 Dampit and SD Negeri 5 Kembiritan. The Teaching Campus Program is a program that aims to improve student literacy through collaboration between students and students. Through this program, students from various universities are involved in teaching activities in elementary schools, where they become literacy mentors for students. The research design used in this research is a quantitative research design. With this design, research will be carried out systematically and structured to collect data that can be measured accurately. This method is used to test hypotheses or relationships between two or more variables. The data obtained will be analyzed using SPSS to compare the increase in literacy skills of the two schools. The results of school observations and interviews conducted at SD Negeri 2 Dampit and SD Negeri 5 Kembiritan with all homeroom teachers showed that students' literacy skills were low. Students' low literacy skills are proven by students who cannot answer literacy questions during class and AKM (Minimum Competency Assessment) results. Therefore, researchers tested a work program that had been designed and implemented to improve student literacy, namely the Silent Reading program. This research is very useful as part of students' self-development and also for students and assigned schools and has a significant influence on the literacy skills of students in target schools.
