Abstract

Al-Qur'an is a guide for Muslims in the world and it is mandatory for us to study it. It is best to start educating children to learn the Al-Qur'an from an early age in order to understand the Al-Qur'an, especially for children with special needs such as mentally retarded children, they must receive academic and religious education. However, many children cannot read the Koran. To improve the ability to read the Al-Qur'an, many methods are used, for example the Qiro'ati Method. This research aims to determine: (1) The process of implementing the Qiro'ati method in learning the Al-Qur'an for mentally retarded children, (2) Evaluation of the implementation of the Qiro'ati method in learning the Al-Qur'an for mentally retarded children. This research uses an approach qualitative with descriptive-qualitative research type and using descriptive methods. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis used in the research includes data reduction, data presentation, data verification. The results of the research show that (1) the process of implementing the Qiro'ati Method in learning the Al-Qur'an for mentally retarded children is that children with special and normal needs are put into one class. So learning for mentally retarded children and normal children has the same learning process but is differentiated in the way of teaching. (2) evaluation in implementing the Qiro'ati Method, namely evaluation of daily learning and evaluation of volume increases.
