Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas's idea of Islamizing science was his intellectual response to the negative effects of modern science which were increasingly visible and felt by the world community. According to him, this is a result of the gap or dichotomy that occurs between religious knowledge and general science which cannot be avoided and has occurred since the Renaissance. Therefore, al-Attas emphasized that western science is not suitable for consumption before selective study is carried out. The Islamization of science as an effort to resolve these problems is clearly explained by al-Attas as the liberation of humans from magical, mythological, cultural-national traditions that are contrary to Islam and from secular shackles to thought, so that many humans whose physical nature tends to forget themselves. and even do injustice to him. The concept of Islamization of al-Attas is very relevant to the development of Islamic education in Indonesia as stated in the National education goals contained in Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System.Downloads
