Abstract

ABSTRACT Science subjects are related to how to find out about nature systematically, so that science is not only the mastery of a collection of knowledge in the form of facts, concepts, or principles but also a process of discovery (inquiry). The learning model that is considered capable of strengthening the understanding of student concepts is the guided inquiry model. Gided inquiry is a learning model that can train students' skills in carrying out the investigation process to collect data in the form of facts and process these facts so that students are able to build conclusions independently to answer questions or problems posed by the teacher. This study aims  to describe how the application of the inquiry learning model to improve the understanding of the concept of temperature and heat in grade IV students at MI Nurus Shibyan. The method used is qualitative with a descriptive method. The data used are primary and secondary data. Data is extracted through three ways, observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study show that, in the application of the inquiry learning model, which includes the first 5 steps, orientation, the second, formulating problems and hypotheses.
