Abstract

  This research aims to determine the impact of permissive parenting on the social-emotional development of 5-6-year-old children in Tarbiyatul Banin 2 Kindergarten Salatiga for the academic year 2022/2023. The type of research used was descriptive qualitative research. The data collection methods used were observation, interview, and analysis techniques which included data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The research results that were obtained, related to the impact of permissive parenting on the social-emotional development of 5-6-year old children in Tarbiyatul Banin 2 Kindergarten Salatiga, were parents who give too much freedom without any rules make the children do whatever they want, parents who rarely give punishment make the children repeat the same mistakes, parents who spoil their children too much give the children whatever they want as long as they are not fussy, and parents who cannot control their children's emotions well. Parents have not yet understood the correct way to control their children's emotions. The impact of permissive parenting was a barrier to the children's behavior, such as being impulsive (having an attitude that changes a lot) and aggressive, liking to rebel, having less confidence and self-control, having an unclear path in life, and having lower achievement.
