Abstract

The reason for this research is that there are several obstacles faced during the learning process such as: (1) there are still students who do not understand abstract material (2) the need for a learning model that involves student activity (3) there are still students whose learning outcomes have not reached KKM. Efforts are made to overcome these problems by applying the diorama media-assisted Problem Based Learning (PBL) model to animal life cycle material to improve science learning outcomes. This research was conducted at SD Tumbuh 2 Yogyakarta in Middle B class which amounted to 15 students. This study used Classroom Action Research (PTK) conducted with II cycles. In the pre-cycle stage, an average score of 57 was obtained with the completion of 4 students. The first cycle stage gets an average score of 66 with 6 students completeness, while the second cycle stage gets an average score of 89 with 15 students completeness. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is an increase in science learning outcomes in the Middle B class of SD Tumbuh 2 Yogyakarta through Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning assisted by diorama media.
