Abstract

This research is a study to find out the strategies used by the principal of SDN 12 Banyuasin 1 in an effort to improve the quality of education and teacher performance. This study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews and documentation. Furthermore, the presentation of data used a descriptive approach, in the form of words, writing or verbally from the subjects observed, namely, the principal, teachers and students. The results of the study show that the principal has carried out his leadership properly according to his role and function as the principal. The conclusion of the study shows that the principal has carried out several strategies to improve the quality of education at SDN 12 Banyuasin 1 including the principal's strategy in the field of teacher recruitment, in the field of teacher welfare, in the administration sector, in the marketing sector / promotion, in the field of time management, in the field of customer satisfaction. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the principal's strategy on the aspect of teacher performance which includes coaching teacher performance, supervising teacher performance, fostering the discipline of educational staff, giving motivation, awards, has gone well, it's just not optimal, teacher performance includes preparation learning tools, evaluation of the results of the learning process, and follow-up of learning outcomes are categorized as good, it's just that in terms of the implementation of learning, namely the use of learning methods and media is still less effective.
