Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of students’ interest in reading. Students who have high reading interest tend to have better reading skills. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of literacy on elementary school students’ reading interest. This research is qualitative research using a literature study method. Students’ interest in reading is very influential for other skills. However, not all students have a high interest in reading, therefore literacy activities at school can help increase students’ interest in reading. Interest in reading can encourage students to broaden their knowledge. Students must have an interest in reading. Therefore, literacy interest in reading needs to be considered in increasing elementary school students’ interest in reading.
